Last night, Apple sold out of iPhone 4’s with a June 24 delivery date and pushed back all orders to July 2. Now those orders have sold out and the new shipping date is July 14.

Pretty much confirming what pretty much everyone has suspected since at least Monday, if not late Sunday, Apple has formally and officially asked Gizmodo for that iPhone 4G/iPhone HD back. That means it’s Apple property, and probably something close to what we’ll see when Steve Jobs holds it up on the WWDC stage in June.

Gizmodo got their hands on that lost iPhone G4 (iPhone HD/iPhone 4G/etc) prototype purportedly lost then found in a San Jose bar and reported on extensively yesterday. They’ve given it a thorough, geektonic once-over and here’s the take away:
According to yet another claim of Steve Jobs replying to a customer email, Apple will no longer be offering updates to the original 2007 iPhone 2G, including iPhone OS 4.
